An engineering wander constructed to defy cyclones and earthquakes, Taipei 101 held the honor as the tallest building in the world for six years until 2009. The architectural features and elements of the 509 m (1,700 ft) tall tower are fueled with symbolism. Notice how its design resembles an elongated pagoda or a bamboo stick--recalling growth. The number of levels (101) indicates striving for more than perfection, and the number of segments consisting of the same number of floors (eight) stands for good fortune and prosperity. However, its most popular element is the damper that defied the strongest typhoon in history (2015). The skyscraper houses a huge shopping mall on its first five floors, along with restaurants, clubs, and two observation decks on 89th and 91st floors. Expensive and honestly not worth it, it's just a city view. Shopping centre could be anywhere in the world really.

Pretty awesome place. I believe that this is the highest tower in Taipei. It's been raining non-stop since I arrived, otherwise I would pay to go up and take in a view of the city and surrounding areas from the top. But there's a nice, top notch mall next door, in fact there are a few in the shopping area and lots of great places to eat too. If you stay in this neighborhood, it will cost you a bit. Metro stops nearby and short, easy walk to Taipei 101 from there. I'm hoping the rain will stop during the next few days and skies clear up so I can get a look from the top before I leave. 😉😇

Comparing to malls you can find in Singapore (the land of shopping malls) I think it’s a blend of marina bay sands and Orchard Ions in terms of its high end retails and scale. Visited on a Tuesday afternoon and all of the upstairs coffee shops are unapologetically packed. Do not despair if it happens to you as well. There are a few decent coffee shops to rest up in basement. Four stars because the dinning options aren’t as good as other high end shopping malls.

Taipei 101 is the main attraction of Taipei. It’s huge and beautiful and lavish. There is an observatory mall at one side which is accessible to the visitors and for view from the 5th floor of this mall you can buy tickets 🎟.

A must go, what else can be said about this beautiful skyscraper. The shopping center is fancy and the surrounding areas are great to hang out with your friends and shopping if you have money 💰.
-
Incredible building on the outskirts of Taipei. Well worth the visit if you love architecture, one of the tallest buildings in the world! Extensive shopping/food below and a viewing area up top, a must see!
