Create an itinerary including Wat Saket
Visit Wat Saket, a hilltop Buddhist temple complex that has undergone several regal renovations over the years. In the 19th century, King Rama III tried to build an enormous chedi atop an artificial hill, only to find the soil was too soft to support its weight. His son had better luck with a more modest design, but it was King Rama V who completed the main complex standing today. The gold chedi juts out to cut an impressive silhouette atop the hill. Reaching the site involves climbing up 300 steps, so you may want to avoid the hottest time of day if possible. The views from the top--and the photos you'll take home with you--make the expenditure of energy more than worth it. • A short walk from the palace, thru old Bangkok you get to the mount. A circular walk up it to the summit, which also has great views over the town. At night it’s lit up to highlight the gold. Worth...

  • Not the most well known temple, about a 15 minute walk from the nearest mrt station. I think it was 100b for the ticket, walk up the many steps to the top, there is a cafe half way. Inside the top...

  • This was an experience that will stay with me for as long as I live. The beauty here is amazing. If you're lucky enough, you'll be at the top just as the sun starts to set, and it gets dark. That's when you get to see the unexpected. As you gaze in the distance, you'll see many other temples shining in contrast to the night. Just beautiful.
  • One of the most beautiful temple in Bangkok. Said to be built and continuously developed since the reign of Rama I. From the recording, the temple collapsed many times in the past. But it was rebuilt and stable for a long time now. An iconic temple like standing on the top of golden temple, you can see from a far. You can walk from ground to the top to see the view of Bangkok city. There are also countless parking lots available. Must come to pay a visit!
  • A temple which it's absolutely necessary to visit at the time of a visit to Bangkok and which however is not very known. It's located in height and dominates the city with an absolutely spectacular panoramic sight. It's necessary to climb a certain number of steps but at each "plateau", one attends something of magic. Huge gongs with a sublime sound that give us the illusion of being projected in an ancient era, prayer bells with a very nice sound too. Until we reach the temple at the top from which it's possible to go up to admire the golden stupa. A very nice discovery that I am glad I did not miss.
  • Highly recommend while you’re in Bangkok!! Beautiful temple and surrounding buildings. Clean area as well thanks to the great staff who work there. Would recommend going at anytime. We spent about an hour there and got some beautiful photos. Very bright and unique
  • One of the very beautiful temples in the heart of Bangkok! Quite close to Grand Palace and Wat Arun (actually many great temples around here) and it's absolutely magnificent place to be. You have to climb closer to 400 steps and you don't feel it. Usually they call in Golden Buddha in case if you can't find it. They charge 50 Baht for a foreigner but there is no one to check whether you got a ticket or not. Brilliant sunset if you go up around 5.30 - 6.00 and you can see pretty much the whole city from there.
