Chez Hakan - The Pottery Shop, Avanos

There are many pottery shops in the area. I recommend Hakan if you are looking for interesting designs. Hakan is funny and charming and makes the sales experience fun. He let us try to make clay pots on the machine afterwards and gave us juice-he also offered homemade win. Make sure you compare with other shops and negotiate the price. We found cheaper options in the area but the quality was different. For example, we paid 100 lira for a mug, but later found ones that looked similar for 30-50 in the area and also in Taksim in Istanbul. So I feel we could have negotiated a lower price but oh well. Nice and cozy place, we called at the late night cause we had limited time but owner came to take us from hotel, drove us to his pottery shop, opened shop for us. And after art terapy he gave us little gifts, which was super cute. Үлкен рахмет! (Kazakça çok teşekkürler)

Had a lovely time here. Absolutely LOVED the homemade wine and the no-pressure service and reasonable prices made it a very enjoyable experience. Ended up buying lots of beautiful pieces to gift friends and family for christmas. A great time all round

An Aladdin's Cave of beautiful pottery. We went there with our friends & had a great time. Hakan was very friendly & entertaining. We're back home now enjoying the pottery we brought.
