Create an itinerary including Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology
At Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, see the world's oldest known shipwreck and its treasury holding wooden logs, gems, and hippopotamus ivory. Situated inside the rooms and towers of St. Peter's Castle, the museum showcases collections of ancient artifacts retrieved from local shipwrecks, such as amphorae, coins, and Canaanite gold jewelry. Look for a solid gold scarab that belonged to the Egyptian queen Nefertiti. The battalions provide great views of the surrounding area. Many of the exhibits can be touched. There are no tour guides here, but panels, maps, models, dioramas, and videos provide necessary information. • I went into this museum with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. Good range of artefacts and translated into English too.

  • The price was kinda high(150tl per person) but you don't get much anyway. The first floor was dedicated to average scale & weighting exhibition (showing you a bunch of vase) and even smaller room dedicated to huge vases. On the second floor we found a nice collection jewelries but it too was rather small. And that't all. It took us around 30 min to see it all. It my be a nice place to drop by if you are in the area or to kill a spare hour but it's not worth a dedicated visit.
  • The castle has multiple small museums. The Underwater Archeology Museum is the most magical although it is pretty tiny. It feels like walking back in time into an underwater world. You can see a reconstruction of a ship that sunk hundreds of years ago. Together with that, objects from the ship are displayed.
  • I suggest to visit during sunset to see the spectacular sunset view and enjoy the beautiful courtyards when the weather is cooler. I have visited castle and the museum so many times in the past but i enjoyed more this time after recent renovation.
  • Located inside the Bodrum Castle… This small museum leaves a big mark… with the number of shipwrecks in around the area due to the shallow reef… this was a prime spot for many archeological finds, especially the ceramic amphora l, which used to transport various commodities back in the day. Yup
  • A beautiful medieval castle with a museum display from antiquity to the Middle Ages, great exhibits, an unavoidable place for all lovers of ancient history. Place with the most beautiful view in the whole of Bodrum, if you want to have great photos from Bodrum this is another reason to visit this castle
