Castle of St. Peter
Learn about fascinating archaeological finds from under the sea at Castle of St. Peter. Built in 1402 by the Knights of St. John, the castle is now used as the Museum of Underwater Archaeology. After a long history of attack without defeat throughout the 16th century, the castle was surrendered to a sultan during an attack in 1522. Today the museum is the largest of its kind, hosting artifacts of glass, bronze, clay, and iron. Check out the inside garden within the castle, move on to the tomb of a Carian princess from 325 BCE, and finally be amazed by the reconstructed shipwrecks from the 11th and 14th centuries. The castle draws visitors with a variety of interests--from ancient architecture, to Turkish history, to archaeology. It is also referred to as "Bodrum Castle" or "Petronium." With our world travel planner, Bodrum City attractions like Castle of St. Peter can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Wasn't expecting there to be as much to see, but it was huge and really worth going round. We spent a good few hours there!

Incredibly nice! That Castle is just a very beautiful and structured Museum with an enormous space… you really need time to experience it in the way you should! Plenty of an outdoor space as well as indoor… Nice and quite detail exposition, really peaceful area with a marvellous view!

Great staff and well preserved. It's lots of walking and steps. I recommend very good shoes not flip flops like I did. You don't have to climb every part. One of the most beautiful places I've visited. So many cute little cats and beautiful peacocks. There was no wait and the ticket is well worth the price! There's also toilet facilities, a gift shop and a cafe inside.

Such a beautiful museum and castle. The staff is friendly at the ticket counter. There is a lot of climbing so make sure you are fit and able. Leave at least 45 minutes for visiting (longer if you are taking lots of photos). You will find white peacocks ! And colorful male ones too. There is a gift shop at the entrance and a small cafe with snacks and drinks inside. The bathrooms facilities are clean. Amazing views of the sea and coastline.

I recommend you to get the muzekart at the entrance, which offers good value for everyone. It is half of the regular price which was 60 TL when we visited. The museum and the collection seemed to me not enough however the castle is great 🏰 The view and the history of the castle is quite interesting, there are enough information boards around that helps you to learn the castle history. And also for interested parties, there are recorded audio additional services. You can have joyful, memorable moments, it is recommended. Please keep in mind to double check the parking, I guess there is no parking available.

Really interesting castle. So many things to see. many rooms to check out. Keep going until the top, the view is great. You can take many photos. The sunset view is amazing. Pretty quick to get in. Very easy to get to, close to the main town. Everything you can walk to. The Chapel of the castle is pretty interesting. There is a glass floor and you can see an old cemetery below. And some birds walking around
