Create an itinerary including Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
Admire Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, the only standing historic site of the original Seven Wonders of Antiquity. Built in the 4th century BCE, this 1,500-year-old mausoleum is known for the novelty of its architectural style compared to other buildings of its time. Although many of the artifacts from the mauseoleum are on display in museums around the world, the ruins here include column pieces that display ancient Greek stone-carving work, an ancient stairway, and parts of mosaics. View some of these artifacts and mosaics at the museum adjacent to the ruins and learn about the history behind them. Wear comfortable shoes so you can get around easily. Note that the site is readily accessible from the city center and local metro station. • If you are walking from the seafront to the amphitheatre it is on your way, a worthwhile stop. Pence to go in, needs a little imagination.

  • Nice video docu presentation inside. Accessible as well. 25 liras is the ticket. Plenty of benches in the shade to relax. Also toilets are available close to entry/exit point.
  • For what is left of it, the museum does a great job of displaying what was once one of the 7 wonders of the world. Quaint, historically rich, and quite moving.
  • This is a neat site that shows why we now call mausoleums after massolous. It's got plenty to see for about an hour and cost is cheap for entry. Has exhibit hall and can wander around and touch the stones and climb around so that's nice. Very sad it was raided by people many years ago to fortify the castle on the coast not far away. Worth a stop to see one of the seven ancient wonders ruins in Bodrum.
  • Beautiful day out not to expensive. Views are amazing. There's plenty to learn and see
  • Despite there are only ruins, this place is worth seeing. There is a small hall with video demonstration and description of the mausoleum. Btw, it is well maintained and personnel is nice
