Now in ruins, Tlos once served as the bustling urban center of ancient Lycia. According to legend, this site was home of the hero Bellerophon. One of the city's rock tombs allegedly belongs to him and bears a relief portraying the hero riding his famous horse, Pegasus. After the Lycians, the Romans took over the city, building a stadium and an amphitheatre whose remains you can still see. You can also view monuments of Byzantine and Ottoman architecture. The site is quite large and hilly, and a thorough exploration requires a bit of hiking over uneven terrain, so be sure to bring adequate footwear. • an excellent ancient city. Its location dominates the land. The view from the castle is beautiful. I recommend visiting especially at sunset.

  • Amazing place. It is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in Turkey. Amazing view from the top of castle. During August is very hot and humid. You need a car and make sure your car is not cheap economical saving gas. You drive through hills and up and down. You need a strong rental car. I rent Audi A series. Local farmers sell some small places of their fresh products and fruit. #tlos
  • It is an impressive place without a doubt, the theater is well preserved but the tour around the ruins does not take more than 30 minutes. You can quickly reach the top where the flag is, the view is wonderful. If you like history you will like this place.
  • It looks impressive at first glance. But in fact there is not much to look at. In fact, you can only climb the stairs to the columns and portal carved into the rock. There is an entrance to a very small room. And that's it. There is no extensive network of crossings or corridors. There is no access to other parts either.
  • Marvellous ruins and Lycian tombs dating back 4000 years. Fascinating ancient history with access to many parts so you can explore at your own pace. Be sure to try the pomegranate at the old cafe, second up the hill before the slate carving stand. *****
  • We thought that these ruins were amazing, the theater, Agora, stone tombs and a castle. Beautiful location, not many visitors. Definitely worth visiting this site. Good location for some incredible photographs. 12.5 TL to enter the grounds. 3btraveler
