  • Lovely mosque and square. Great vibe near to the metro and buses and short walk from the famous Istaklal Shopping street.

  • Such a nice lively square. Loved it. Full of energy and people walking from all around the world. I came during the day and it was spectacular, I bet at night it will be too, just different vibes. Highly recommended. Note: if you have elderly that need wheelchair, it is almost flat surfaces.
  • Excellent shopping area and tourist visit. Lots of shops and dining options, with many cafes and dessert shops as well. Plenty of hotels around. The area is open and clean, though busy. There is heavy police presence and security. Unfortunately if you stop to stand around and think for even a moment, you will have people walk up to you looking for spare change or offering to sell you something you don't want. Worth a visit for those coming to Istanbul.
  • It's like the beating heart of the city of Istanbul. You will meet people form all around the world. Place is heavily marketed towards the tourists so prices may be slightly higher than usual but if you are a tourist you will love this place. It's not just a square but it's a collection of historical buildings surrounding the place too. You will find a good streach of walking path for shopping. Also if you are willing they operate a historic tram line within the area. If you are a railway nut you will absolutely love it Center of the square you will find the Republic monument which is a quite a stunning piece of. You will never go hungry in this place you will find thousands of restaurants and small eateries all around This is the best place to experience how cosmopolitan is the city of Istanbul
  • It is a charming, modern, pleasant square. This is a very good place in the city. It is located high up, in an open place under the sun. Once we went up there on foot, following through a narrow, old and picturesque street. The ascent was quite long and difficult. It is better to go up to the square by a magnificent funicular line.
  • Beautiful square, where the populace hangs out at sunset. Here, you can mingle with the locals and other tourists. Don't try to be here at mid-day in August. The polished concrete ground reflects all the sun's heat onto you from below and you get the hit sun beating on you from above. That's probably why there's hardly a soul here at mid-day.
