Visit the Yoruk Collection, located in a historic, renovated library in the heart of Istanbul's historic district.Put Yoruk Collection and other Istanbul attractions into our Istanbul online road trip planner, and watch your holiday take shape.
Dating from circa 1780, the building is thought to be the first private library established in Istanbul, and was built by the chief of the Sahaflar, the famous book market, which can still be found operating just outside the Grand Bazaar. The graves of the family which built the library can be found in the small, peaceful walled garden next to it.
The Akbayrak family has continued the tradition of housing collections in this historic building, renovating, restoring, and repurposing it as a boutique and showroom for their own collections. Stocked exclusively with handmade carpets, textiles, jewelry, and antiques, the shop's knowledgeable staff is happy to answer questions or allow you to browse quietly on your own.
Stop by for tea, to browse, or simply to admire the architecture and light of this lovely space.

This shop is a one of a kind. The Yoruk team has curated a beautiful collection of high quality handicrafts and jewelry. We were drawn into the store by the gorgeous pillows (we hadn't seen those patterns anywhere else) and were happy to find a selection of jackets, linens and wall hangings. The Yoruk team is passionate but not at all pushy about their merchandise and we are so happy with the tablerunner we bought. We can't wait to enjoy it at home. Next time I'm in Istanbul I will be visiting the shop again.

This shop is a gem. The owner Hasan and his team, including Erkan were wonderful hosts for those who drop in. They love to share their insights about their products. They have a good selection of carpets, ceramics, and jewelry. What's different here is that Yoruk sources authentic goods - either heritage goods, or directly sourced from the region around Turkiye. Nothing fake or imported and then relabeled. Highly recommend. REVIEWER: USA expat living in Istanbul for three months. No financial connection with the firm reviewed.

Wow. What an incredible experience we had here buying a carpet. It is not obvious initially, but venture upstairs and if Erkan is available (one of the most humble and knowledgeable people I have met) he will share with you his vast knowledge on carpets from Turkey and around the Middle East. You can tell he loves what he does and if you show some interest he is willing to take you through every detail you can imagine. Very reasonable prices, and never pushy. This is how buying a carpet should feel like, and we left incredibly happy with our experience there unlike our many other encounters with the majority of shops around Istanbul.

Buying kilims and carpets can be a nightmare especially as a tourist where you are unsure of the local prices, and the quality. I was a kid when I came to Yoruk's store and grew up with their carpets at home. Years later, I returned to pick a few pieces for my home. Yoruk Collection has the prices written on the tags, so there is no haggling and everyone (locals and tourists) get the same prices. Plus, their team is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. They will take their time to show you the pieces without the pressure of buying. Even if you only would like to have the experience of viewing the pieces but not making a purchase, you should stop by at their beautiful store. Thoroughly happy with my experience throughout the years with the Yoruk team. Plus, it doesn't hurt that their quality is higher and their prices lower than you would find in the marketplace.
