  • On a tour of ancient sites this didn’t disappoint. Really gives an idea of the size and complexity of the cities of the past. Helps to read a little of the Lydian and Croesus history before visiting.....  more

  • Visited in Jan 22 on a Sunday afternoon. Free entry with museum cards. Information boards are in Turkish and English. Allow 90 minutes. Impressive synagogue with beautiful mosaics. The glass floor over one of thr mosaics is impressive. Quite a lot of refurbishment has gone on, but without it the site would be a true ruin. Food and drink available nearby in the town. Parking is limited at the site, but everyone seems to park on the side of the road. Don't forget the Temple of Artemis that is only 2kms away.
  • Amazing, magnificent entrance hall to the bath and gymnasium. Nothing compares among the ancient cities of Turkey, not even Ephesus.
  • Ruins of a city that was once the capital of the kingdom of Lydia. The remains of what used to be the gymnasium are very imposing. There are also the remains of Artemis' temple.
  • It's not the largest archeological site in the region, but the Gymnasium is probably the most impressive antic building I've ever seen except for the amphitheaters. The restoration has been so successful so far and excavations and renovation works are still continuing.
  • I recommend a beautiful ancient place to see
