Alaturca Taner, Uchisar

If you’re in or near Cappadocia, don’t skip this jewelry and ceramics store. The owners are kind and extremely generous with their time; they were meticulous in understanding our preferences in order to direct us to the best pieces. Come prepared to bargain, but their prices are definitely fair. Beyond their inventory, they went above and beyond to welcome us to the area - when we finally left to see the castle, Ali walked us out (in the middle of the rain) to show us an even better view of the valley, and spent 10 minutes showing us around the back of the castle. Taner is a wealth of knowledge on gems and stones & the visit was a genuine experience.

Taner is a very knowledgable person and will guide you about each piece in his shop. He also understands the taste of customer very well and suggests the pieces accordingly. I gave him extra money but he returned me which i had forgotten. The store is very well located and well kept with a lot of attractive things to choose from. Meanwhile, if possible, a visit to nearby Avanos town might also be helpful with even bigger pottery shops and better bargain.

A La Turca is local shop in the fairytale town of Uchisar with the best variety of ceramic, Turkish Rugs and jewelry. We visited Ali twice and both times he treated our family as his, offering us chai while taking a break from our excursion. Price transparency and hospitality are his paramount priorities for customer service. I found the exact piece that I bought from him at a ceramic factory in Avanos going for ten times the amount I paid Ali a day before. Check A La Turca and see for yourself!!

The store is beautiful, clean, and very well organized (by color). We entered the store by chance and were greeted and then left alone to explore the many beautiful pieces within. We walked away with some beautiful color changing Zultanite. Great prices and helpful whenever we had questions. Taner and his family took great care of us!
