  • Twisty roads, hairpin bends, windy streams, beautiful views and climbing through scenery : would highly recommend driving this road. Make sure you have a decent gear box!

  • I drove this route after visiting Applecross, and it was well worth. Steep at times, some big drops (although always behind barriers), but plenty of passing places. There are also two or three...

  • We were unaware of how difficult this road would be in a motor home. I am a confident driver but would not have wanted to tackle it. Thankfully my husband drove. It is stunning BUT do not...

  • It’s a gripping drive up and downhill. We loved the feeling and thrill involved. Please take care and be considerate while driving as the roads are narrow. If you are worried about cliffs and edges then again think few times before driving. The views are amazing. We were lucky as the sky was clear and we could spot Isle from here.
  • We went through the hills both after dark and in the morning and both times had its on atmosphere. In the evening the road was lonely, winding and I would say almost dangerous. The fog was every where and you feel like you are heading towards some deserted place. In the morning we had time to admire surroundings and views. This is experience is for free and at the same time priceless.
  • Stunning view and a must stop on the NC 500. The road up there is very narrow and i do see quite a few big campers along the way. They are just way too big for this part of the road and does create some choke points along the way
  • Such a lovely drive to reach the point. The ride was thrilling with lovely panoramic view and have narrow roads with much turn up and down to the hills. We visited the place in early November and luckily had the good weather. This is a very good stop if you are doing the nc500 trip. The roads are a bit patchy and steep, but thats how mountains passes are. Viewpoint is amazing once you reach there. Its totally as fairy filmy location. Parking: yes, good parking space Toilets: no toilets
  • If you're debating whether to drive to the viewpoint, consider: you should be very comfortable as a driver of your smallish vehicle and comfortable with use of (small, few) Passing Places. There is 1 guardrail in 1 small portion, there are hairpin turns, pavement is quite rough and potholed, and you will be sharing the road with groups of motorcyclists who prefer to squeeze by rather than pass in official places, as well as cyclists who are very slow and difficult to pass. Our driver was a member of a 4 wheel drive club for years and found it a challenge. If you're still considering it, factor in the weather - it was sunny-rainy-cloudy on our day and when we got to the viewpoint it was so socked in we could barely see past the hood of our vehicle. Note: signs specifically state no motorhomes, and you would be insane to attempt the drive in one.
