Michelham Priory is the site of a former Augustinian Priory in Upper Dicker, East Sussex, England, United Kingdom. The surviving buildings are owned and administered by the Sussex Archaeological Society and are Grade I and Grade II listed.
A T-shaped stone-built structure, the east and north wings date from the 13th century and the west wing from the 16th century. The north wing, originally the Priors Lodging, comprises three storeys with an attic and the other two wings two storeys. The roof is tiled. The whole is surrounded by a moat, enclosing an area of almost 8 acres (3.2 ha).
A watermill in the grounds of the priory has been restored to working order and is open to the public.

  • Well worth a visit to learn about how a Priory operated in the area. Our experience was really enhanced by the very knowledgeable guide Jane. Her description and demonstration of how the kitchen worked was particularly interesting. Very impressive to see a still functioning automated spit. If you are visiting, a tour with a guide around the house is very rewarding. Over 200 volunteers work here and I thank you for giving your time to allow us visitors to enjoy our time there.
  • We went in the week and it was very quiet. Great facilities lovely cafe, toilets, baby change. We had a rocky road cake which was very yummy and not horrifically priced. We took the pram and It was pram friendly had good disable access. The playground is quite nice. There is lots of picnic benches dotted about which is good. The house was interesting a really good exhibit and lots of useful information. The staff were lovely and friendly. The grounds were nice with a pretty garden to look around not massive. We did the Moat walk which wasn't very long and the Moat was quite overgrown. This bit not suitable for wheelchair. Price fairly expensive £11.00 per person. Now I have seen it I probably wouldn't go back. Shame there wasn't a longer walk you can do.
  • Nice place to go with or without kids. Lovely customer service, especially the house guide were wonderful at giving us a bit of history. Although the café staff were friendly and helpful, I just wished the service could be faster.
  • Lovely place, the house is well presented and thoughtfully shows various periods of its life. The gardens are well maintained and pleasant to walk round. Cafe good, clean and varied menu.
  • Wonderful place to visit for a couple of hours. Lots of interesting historical bits and bobs to look at and learn about. Pretty gardens. Nice little cafe.
