The Oyster Shed, Isle of Skye

Fantastic find and worth the single track road to get there. Oysters could have been prepped a tiny bit better as there was quite a lot of smashed shell in them. Scallops were the best I've ever had in my life. Rest of the platter was all delicious. Expect to stand whilst eating in a rustic lean-to, whilst smashing your lobster claws with hammers on renovated whiskey barrels.

Fantastic place and well worth the visit. Oysters were delicious and fresh. Don’t expect anything fancy, it’s quite literally a cold shed, but it somehow adds to the authentic feel of the place. The customer service was friendly and helpful. Oysters were 1pound each. You can pay for them to shuck them for you or buy them unshucked. Fries (chips) were also excellent. Great meal on a cold day! Prepare to stand and eat, as the eating area has no chairs. Otherwise you must eat in your car. Eating area is a bunch of barrels, with an excellent view. Would revisit every time I come to Skye!!

Only enough parking for about 10-12 vehicles. More parking around the bend up the hill (before the sign). Ordered the platter and it was excellent value. Lobster was fantastic, the texture was perfect. Oysters were fresh and slightly creamy. The shucking of the oysters is a little rushed (be careful of shell bits) Lots of cold smoked salmon! Shrimps were ok. Same with kipper and chips.

For who loves seafood, this place is a must! Fresh oysters, scallops that taste like butter and mussels to die for! Everything so simple, but that's how you you treat great products! Seafood as it meant to be, sourced from just a few meters away, and if you grab a table outside, you get the best view in the area!

I was excited to visit but was a little disappointed. I found that you spend a lot of money on food but then still have to pay for utensils which you are basically forced to do if you have lobster like me (fortunately we had utensils in the car). There's tables (barrels) but nowhere to sit so you can stand and eat or eat in the car, which isn't a big deal. The scallops were a bit chewy and the lobster was okay. The staff were friendly though and the food didn't take long to come out. In the end I felt like we spent a lot of money to still be hungry.
