Lewes Castle & Barbican House Museum, Ringmer

Would recommend visiting, great view from the top and some signs giving informative information. Great little museum, very interesting visit. Be careful going up the tower, although they have added wood to make the steps level on the spiral staircase, they are very narrow so if you have massive feet or vertigo be very careful!

Love a castle & this was good. Visited with adults we went on a week day during school time so didn't pre-book but it wasn't busy. Not large but definitely keep you occupied for a couple of hours. It had some interactive stuff for kids clothing for dress up and models to knock down. Plenty of seating if u needed a rest and fantastic views from all the high points. Also the grounds were lovely. There's a small museum telling the history of the area. So a really enjoyable couple of hours.

A combined ticket is bookable online for here and Anne of Cleeves' House and you can walk between the two through the remains of Lewes Priory. Entrance via the museum which includes a short film about the history of Lewes and historical timelines. Also, a toilet and gift shop. Good views from the tower and high points. Childrens' activities.

Just the view from the highest tower is well worth a visit, but I do recommend a visit also for the castle itself. Well looked after, and lots of information on the castle and its history

Lovely local museum of a very historic site and wonderful views of the town and Downs. Adjoining museum has a cool scale model of Lewes worth checking out too.
