Create an itinerary including HMS Belfast
Permanently moored on the River Thames, HMS Belfast is a museum ship open to the public. Access to the ship is via the footpath on the south bank of the river. A walkway connects the footpath to the ship's quarterdeck. Onboard, you'll visit nine decks all restored by the Imperial War Museum and thematically divided into three sections: a taste of seamen's daily lives; the boiler room, engine room, and communication and mechanical functions of the ship; and the admiral's bridge, operations room, and gun direction platform. In between these quartered-off sections, look for exhibits commemorating the ship's war service and personal stories of those who served aboard. Put HMS Belfast and other London attractions into our London travel itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • HMS Belfast, moored in the Thames between London Bridge and Tower Bridge, is a fascinating ship to visit. It is a surviving WWII-era cruiser in service from 1939 until 1963 and it saw much action...

  • A very interesting experience and a taste of what it must have been like to have served on a naval warship! We were there for about 3 hours, but could have stayed longer. A lot of ongoing work...

  • What a great experience! We absolutely loved HMS Belfast. There was so much to do and see, and the audioguide was great. We loved wandering around the engine and boiler rooms, and seeing the messes...

  • A really amazing experience! We spent a couple of hours here, climbing up ladders, using the interactive screens and exploring all the rooms. Some rooms are a really tight fit you have to breath in! The volunteers were so helpful. It's best to go this time of year as there aren't many schools visiting and it's much cooler. I'll definitely be going again in the near future!
  • It was such a lovely experience visiting HMS Belfast. The vessel is full of history and it's so interesting to explore all 9 decks. We were given audio handsets that explained the history of specific parts of the ship. The crew also gave a brilliant talk about how the ship operated - they were very knowledgeable. The onboard cafe was good and there was also a nice seating area out in the open where the pigeons keep you company! ☺️ The views of the river are lovely, especially on a summer's day. The gift shop was nice and the staff there were friendly and helpful.
  • Absolutely wonderful experience, extremely open and easily navigable, even for a warship, arrows and directions are clear yet there not being a set one way system allowing you to visit lower decks with ease, fabulous conditions excluding a dual-purpose 4inch cannon undergoing rust, however, it was pointed out to be undergoing renovation and it is understandable that a 87 year old or thereabouts warship will have some rusting. Wonderful to sit on the decks and just enjoy the breeze and great for taking photos, gift shop has not only memorabilia but also information on naval warships including those which mention Belfast in the Battle of the North Cape. I would absolutely recommend anyone who can go does go as it is a fabulous experience for all
  • Took our titanic obsessed little man to London as part of his Christmas present. Unfortunately a trip underwater to visit the titanic wasn’t financially going to happen, so this was the next best thing. He absolutely loved it, as did I. So much to see and explore, unfortunately he was so excited about the bridge and captains seat, we didn’t make it to the lower decks. Well worth a visit, and fairly priced. Hours of exploring for the kids and amazing views of many London landmarks
  • We loved the trip to HMS Belfast! It was a really cool dip into history inside and on the old battleship. Really interactive with games, sounds and realistic view of what it was like to live on this ship. The rooms were interesting, climbing the ship to the different areas was cool and being on the deck of the ship was a cool experience. You can sit in the captain's chair, enter the gun area and have a good look at all the areas. The cafe was good. It have sandwiches, drinks and cakes. Not really a cooked place although they did heat up the baguettes. We went on the hottest day of the year (our fault 😅) and it was really good. The ship shielded the heat for a while. Though we did get a bit confused on where we were - maybe there should be a map every now and then to show where you currently are on the ship.
