  • I have driven past here on a number of occasions and missed the turning! Today I paid more attention to the signposting and pulled in to the castle and parking area. Set on the banks of the Clyde...

  • Absolutely stunning and under rated castle. Must have driven past it a thousand times but never been in. Free parking was the first plus point but the castle itself is beautiful, so much to explore and amazing views from the upper floors. Well placed and informative information points throughout give very interesting (and sometimes dark) insights into the castles history and really make you think about the events that once happened within the same room you are standing. The manager Billy was fantastic and clearly very passionate about the place and was happy to give a detailed history and have a good chat. Overall a great way to spend an afternoon and made me want to visit other similar sites across the country
  • It's okay for one time visit but nothing much is there to watch or experience and nothing is there from Maxwell time apart from Castle wall. It will be good if there will be some stuff which they use or had in castle. ..view is very good from it..
  • Lovely castle overlooking the water with limited opening hours for the public. I recommend visiting during sunset as you get beautiful views across the mountains and we saw a pair of dolphins jumping out of the water and playing near the pier in the carpark.
  • Passionate and knowledgeable staff member in the gift shop briefed us before we made our way round the castle. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for historic sites around Glasgow!
  • Detailed introduction to the building on entry by the host. Great place to explore. Amazing setting next to the Clyde.
