A location associated with the Knights Templar, Rosslyn Chapel is the setting for many stories involving alternative histories. However, these stories are more fantasy than fact, and the chapel stands today as a remarkable historical and architectural landmark. The rich medieval and Gothic architecture rewards a careful eye with a wealth of hidden symbols--many have tried to interpret their meaning. Attend one of the free introductory talks on the chapel's history that take place daily. Don't leave the basement out of your tour: There you will find the architect's original plans sketched on the wall. To visit Rosslyn Chapel on your trip to Roslin, use our Roslin trip planner.

On a very very wet day we decided to visit Rosslyn Chapel. Can only say it is stunning inside. So much to look at that it can be hard to take it all in. The info boards are well done and it is all...

Still an enigmatic building. A place of worship even before the Coel was built there. Don’t go to Scotland without visiting the Rosslyn Chapel.

What a stunning chapel. The huge number of carvings and their individual quality is stunning. The highlight, though was the talk we received in the Chapel. A knowledgeable guide and a fascinating history, all delivered with authority and humour. What a fabulous way to spend a couple of hours. It's also worth taking a few minutes to visit what's left of the castle - not much to see, but use your imagination! Also, the tea and cakes are fantastic!!

Loved that place. The employee telling stories about the chapel got me captivated and I wanted more when she finished! Beautiful little chapel. I recommend walking down to the castle (what's left of it) and the bridge. Makes great photos! No camera or phone inside the chapel.

Smaller than I expected but beautiful. The guide was quite engaging and the history was fascinating. Lovely place to visit. Interesting architecture and symbols. Unfortunately you can't take photos inside.

We had a lovely visit to Rosslyn Chapel. There is so much to learn in the visitor centre but still nothing can prepare you for the amount of amazing details and carvings in the chapel. It is so detailed and you can spend so much time looking at the wide selection of carved subjects. Plenty of information is provided throughout as well as a short presentation by a guide. Within the visitor centre is a nice cafe area and shop and plenty of activities for keeping young visitors entertained.

Rosslyn Chapel has been an amazing experience! We ordered our timed tickets on line (it is recommended on the main website for Rosslyn Chapel), came in from Edinburg by bus (super easy, highly recommend). The little cafe on site has wonderful coffee and pastries, if you get hungry. The talk by the guide Neil about the Chapel history was excellent and informative, highly recommend staying for these free little lectures, you will appreciate the Chapel that much more.
