Ghost Ranch is a 21,000-acre (85 km2) retreat and education center located close to the village of Abiquiú in Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico, United States. It was the home and studio of Georgia O'Keeffe, as well as the subject of many of her paintings.

Ghost Ranch is also known for a remarkable concentration of fossils, most notably that of the theropod dinosaur Coelophysis, of which it has been estimated that nearly a thousand individuals have been preserved in a quarry at Ghost Ranch.

  • How can you have such an amazing place and staff, yet still employ one of the most vile, despicable human beings in the museum director, Gretchen Gurtler. We heard her saying such awful things about....  more

  • I came as a day trip and the views are incredibly beautiful. I was very last minute and wasn’t able to do the horseback riding which was a bummer because it looked awesome. I will have to come back...

  • Everyone needs to visit here. Obviously the main draw is probably the work of Georgia O'Keeffe but there is so much more to explore and learn about as well. Spend a night. Do some hiking. Visit the museums. Take a class. You won't regret it.
  • Georgia O'Keefe painted here one can see her inspiration at all points of the compass. We were day visitors and had a wonderful time and found great photo ops. Highly recommended.
  • I booked the Georgia O'Keefe landscape trail ride for myself and 4 kids. The wranglers were friendly and made the experience well worth the cost. The horses were well cared for and they did a great job matching horses to riders. Our trail guide was knowledgeable about the landscape and history of the property. He was really engaged and fun. I will return to spend more time on the ranch if I am ever in the area again.
  • Most beautiful place on earth! Photo opportunities abound, there are tours going daily, but you can see what you are looking for everywhere! History of the ranch is plentiful, and photo opportunities are abundant. There are public restrooms and places to sit by the ranch house. Great views! You can stay as long as you like. Don’t shop the trading post, they are really unfriendly.
  • Great place with some interesting history & fun activities. There are a multitude of hiking trails with varying difficulty. Chimney Rock is the most popular & its pretty short too. There’s a few places mentioning Georgia O’Keefe & her time spent there. You can even stay in one of her cabins. The ranch has been featured in many movies & tv shows, documentaries, music videos & even advertisements for Ariat & clothing & products. There’s neat history with the fossils found there as well. The library was the old Johnson&Johnson house so the architecture is pretty cool. There’s also educational programs & retreats during the summer, but not while I was visiting.
