  • It’s quite this time of year. Free breakfast at lodge had brown bananas and eggs left out from when they had been place in buffet area, biscuits hard as hell, afraid if gravy. Staff super nice...

  • Absolutely stunning view, but the room fell short of my expectations. The heat did not work, despite being changed to 75, and we were cold all night. Then there were a total of two sugars and two...

  • This area of Hawks nest as along my way home so I gave in to impulse and stopped to check out the scenic outlook and do a small little hike before the long drive home. Nice view of the gorge. The butterflies were out and about all over. At the overlook which was pretty and quiet during the morning hours. Crossed the street to do the mile loop through the park. Nothing to spectacular but a nice stroll through the woods. What was great was the park itself. I’m a little jealous as this would be great for a work picnic and if it had an actual play structure it would be perfect for a family reunion or party. They have bathrooms located in what looks like a castle tower. A huge covered picnic shelter with an outdoor fireplace. All in all it was just a cool picnic area though I was most impressed with the bathrooms. The tower was cool looking and it was a little nippy outside but the bathrooms were warm and cozy which I think was do to the stone.
  • We did camping here, it was fun. If you are nature loving person you will definitely love to stay here. Our camp site was next to river so we could hear the falling water sound which was best part about the place. There are no electric plug points, we were aware about it so it did not bother us. They gave picnic tables, chairs, bed, tents so it is kind of less hassle. There is no phone network at the site, so you can plan accordingly. There were plenty of bugs, spiders and earthworms, this place was in woods and next to river it is expected to have some insects, but you need to be prepared. I am not comfortable using portable loo so I was not comfortable, the public restroom closes at night so we had to use the portable loo.
  • Adorable, clean, beautiful location! I wish I had more time there. I was heading home from New River Gorge, saw it on the map and drove through. There is a TON to do in this area! I'll definitely be back! I just did the quick loops immediately near the visitors center and lodge. I was off season in February.
  • We took the jet boat to the river & the lady who attended the booth was a treat. The boat was down she sent us back the next day & it was worth it. A good cooling off ride in the Aug heat. Beautiful sights on waterfront level. Nice people, nice park. Memorable excursion.
  • Beautiful place for exploring and taking pictures. Went during early spring, not crowded at all, but I can only imagine the views out here during fall, as well as the increase in traffic. If you're into photography or just love gorgeous scenery.... this is for you!
