Perfect family fishing trip! Captain John took great care of us. His boat is impressive, clean, and the gear top notch and well organized. He new exactly how to chose the perfect fishing spot. Captain John was knowledgeable, skilled, and a patient instructor. Our family of five all began catching fish as soon as we cast our lines. He baited our hooks quickly and helped us with removing the fish, advising which to keep or toss back. Once we'd caught plenty of fish for dinner, Captain John took us on a tour to a private island and shared his knowledge of the history of the area in interesting, entertaining detail. Once our trip ended, Captain John took our catch for the day and had it cleaned and prepared for cooking while we enjoyed ice cream at a charming local soda fountain. John recommended we take the fish to a local restaurant, the Red Pirate, which we did that night. The chef cooked our fish to perfection while we enjoyed some nice, cold beer, then served it with hush puppies and great sides. Thank you, Captain John, for a wonderful summer memory for our family!

We have gone out twice with Captain JB and highly, highly recommend. I've gone with my older son and also as a family group of 4. We had a blast both times. He was very knowledgeable, knew just where to go based on what we wanted to do. He was incredibly patient and taught our sons well as they got the hang of it. He has some great stories and between all the fish and the laughs, the time flies. If you're fishing in the panhandle, this is the guy to call!

Our trip with Captain Layne was awesome! He immediately put us on the fish and also taught us so much about fishing in the area. We’d never been to Apalachicola before and brought our boat as well to fish subsequent days. Not only did he help us on his boat, but gave us advice on fishing from our boat for the following days and continued to check up on us to ensure our continued success. His vast amount of knowledge coming from 4 generations of fishing in the area is priceless! Hand down, if you’re booking a charter in the Apalachicola/St. George area go with Captain JB!

We have been fishing with Captain John several times. This last time was especially meaningful as my 5 year daughter, 88 year old grandmother and both parents were on the trip and we all caught fish. I have never seen a happier 5 year old reeling in a fish. The accommodations were topnotch and the fishing was great. We limited out on redfish and caught several trout, white and speckled. If you are lucky enough to book a trip with John when he brings his 15 year old daughter along, you are in for a special treat because she is the best first mate on the Apalachicola bay.
