  • I first visited this magnificent lighthouse about 6 years ago. I did the 228 step climb and got to first meet Buddy. My most recent visit was this past 4th of July weekend. This time after finishing my climb I met Bayard. Both gentlemen along with the gentlemen that works downstairs are absolutely wonderful. They have such great knowledge about the history of the lighthouse and are just a delight to talk to. I am shocked that both Bayard and Buddy (well into their 80s and 90s) can still do the climb several days a week. Once you get to the top you can have a nice view of the area (with a breeze). They have a small museum and a cute souvenir shop as soon as you walk in. The fee for the climb is $10 and they have free parking in the back. I highly recommend anyone who loves lighthouses like I do to definitely make a point to check this place out. Even though I already done the climb twice, I will definitely come back for a third time!
  • Came in and the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the lighthouse. They have a little free museum on the bottom floor and then you have to pay to walk up to the top of the lighthouse. The walk up will definitely let you know what physical shape you are in. The view is pretty good and worth visiting
  • Fantastic Old Lighthouse. The steps aren't as bad as it would seem. There are 6 platforms on your way up to go at your own pace. Although we went on a hot day in the 90's the Lighthouse was nice and cool inside. Once we reached the top Dan is the man of knowledge. Mr. Lighthouse as we called him was an incredible wealth of knowledge concerning the Absecon Lighthouse among all others on the East Coast. It was too nice to hear his true passion and love in what he does.
  • I LOVE historical places and this really was a great spot to visit in Atlantic City! Lots of things to see and very informative. Also, the caretaker in the main building is very sweet and really knows the history of the area. It was a wonderful experience and beautiful lighthouse.
  • This has been my second lighthouse I've visited and the staff were SO knowledgeable, friendly and inspiring. I bought my first Lighthouse Passport with excitement to visit many more lighthouses in anticipation in seeing all these new places and collecting the STAMPS!!! YES! You will see in my pictures what I'm talking about. The gentleman at the top of the lighthouse (on on his 6th book) and the cashier (on either book 3 or 4) with their enthusiasm and excitement has inspired my sister and I to do it. We learned this is the tallest lighthouse in NJ and the 3rd tallest in the country. I highly recommend going, it is hot on the way up, but you be rewarded with a nice breeze at the top.
