  • The oldest and first built Catholic Church in the US. Designed by architect Benjamin Henry Latrobe, who is also better known for designing the Capital. Free entrance, and be sure to visit the crypts (entrance on left in church entryway). Please be respectful to worshippers if you visit.
  • Absolutely beautiful basilica. As someone who has fallen in love with churchs and church architecture this basilica is beautiful. First catholic Basilica in United States shows true beauty to glorify God. The catacombs was very cool, and chapel under ground was neat. Tracing the history of catholic church in MD was neat how many bishop's came to MD and then spread through out the USA. They usually have tours but you have to call ahead and schedule one. Also the gift store is closed permanently. Wonderful day trip, and right down the street is St. Judes Shrine too. Be careful due that's its in bad part of Baltimore, homeless people, drunks harassed people walking to basilica. Plenty of parking close by basilica.
  • Great... not too guilded but still beautiful. Be sure to check out the crypt as well.
  • Incredible! Attended Sunday Mass and stayed after to walk through downstairs and to take in all the beautiful art and statues! Stopped at St. John Paul II Prayer Garden.
  • My favorite part of The Baltimore Basilica is the crypt. I love that it is used for daily mass and that it doesn't give off a "creepy" vibe. One thing that separates this basilica apart from any other Catholic church/cathedral/basilica that I have been to, is that visitors are able to sign up for adoration shifts.
