Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, Barnegat Light

I like these kinds of places that overlook inlets by the ocean, and the Barnegat Light end has always been a nice place to stop. This 2022 season the famous lighthouse will be covered in a maintenance wrapper and can't be climbed, but otherwise the park will be open. It's also a good area to drop a line in the water and test your luck/skill. My recent visit was right before the seasonal summer schedule starts. So there weren't many other people around.

Great place to visit and watch shore birds fly around. I specifically go for photography, but it’s a great place to take a walk and chill. Right now the Lighthouse is undergoing renovations so just be aware if you are going to photograph it. Also, nesting shorebirds area is NOT a place to walk your dogs! See photos.

Old Barney it's a great place to visit whatever time of year it is. The climb up the lighthouse steps is a bit challenging, but I was able to do it at 70 years of age. Worth the effort! The park also has a visitor center, trails through the maritime Forest and dunes, fishing from the jetty rocks, or just enjoying sightseeing and the smell of the sea, along side of the awesome Barnegat inlet!

Always a beautiful place to go kids love going. But the Lighthouse is being renovated at this time. You can't go in it until October. But the surrounding area beautiful relaxing and its great for photography.

Always clean and great spot to fish or use picnic space. Trails go into a old original shore forest that have great views at the top of large dunes. Great for bird watching as well!
