The Amish Experience, Bird in Hand

We took the Amish experience tour that took us in a small bus through the beautiful Amish country and our guide told us all about the Amish way of life, pointing out their home living, school, business and agriculture and why they do things certain ways. We stopped at an Amish farm and shop which showcased Amish products. We then watched the movie about an Amish family, it was a recreation and the theater was cute with effects, then we toured a replica house and school house. There are more VIP tours as well as buggy tours offered. Our guide was not Amish but has made friends with the Amish community and was very knowledgeable. Definitely a fun educational outing that I would highly recommend.

Good Amish experience where they take you to three Amish homes- one is local Leather Artisan who makes Belts, bags and other goods. Second is an older Amish couple who show their home and then sit and discuss their daily life with you. Third is a Dairy Farmer who shows their cattle and milking process etc. Only negative is the Guide/Driver who seemed to be in a rush for his evening tours and did not allow for more than 15 minutes per place. At the end it is a one time experience if you want to see how a simple Farmer life is like if you have never been out of US or experienced a non city life. Kids will love seeing the domesticated horses, cattle and farm chicken and dogs.

We loved going around the taking photos of their houses, quilts and items for sale. Great furniture, barns, bird houses and yard items made by them. The horse and buggies on the road were fun to watch. Watching them cut and place the corn stocks by horse drawn machines, it was amazing to watch how they do it! They don't have child labor laws here. The full family is involved in this process!

Super interesting way to learn about Amish habits and their life. There is a Homestead lecture, Country tour and a film Jacob’s choice.

There was a gentlemen there named Bob who was very informative and knowledgeable. He took the time to give us history on the Amish community and took his time to teach us on various subjects pertaining to the Amish and their surrounding communities. Great movie and tour! Very friendly staff and accommodating. I very much recommend it !!
