North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum, Bismarck

We had so much fun! There was not only a dinosaur (with the skin still on it!) But there was so much more to see and do. I cant believe it was free! The kids had a blast pushing buttons, watching videos, and listing to phones. There was a Case tractor simulator/game the kids had an absolute blast in. We even found something called "the tree house" for kids ages 2-8. It has an actual tree house- complete with green tube slide, fire house, fire truck, exploratory tree- we thought the snail home was super cute, cockpit of an airplane, and a ship with kaleidoscopes! Honestly we had so much fun and time just flew by! Could have spent so much more time here.

This place is a must-see FREE museum!!! If you have kids, definitely go! The museum is great but there is also a “tree house” on the top floor! Kids of all ages were entertained! There’s a space ship and fire truck and so many other fun things, if we lived here we would visit all the time! Such a cool place!!! We will visit every time we are in ND! So much that the photos don’t even capture! They also have a super cute gift shop, great place to buy souvenirs that aren’t stupid. It is such an incredible place!!! Oh yes, and let me repeat…. IT’S FREEEEEEE!!!!!

This incredible museum is a must-see for anyone traveling through North Dakota. Most people don’t know it’s here. Perfect place to check out for families and we can’t believe it’s free!

Wow, this place is a real gem of a museum. As large as a small sports stadium and a complete history from dinosaur age to modern age. This place give a Smithsonian museum a run for its money. Must visit here if in bismarch area. Kids seem to love it alot too.

A fascinating stop. For the curious, could fill from 2-4 hrs. Very clean and spacious. Interesting and well-designed, informative exhibits. The geology exhibit is terrific! The tree house play zone and some very well done interactive touch-screen displays are engaging for kids.
