  • Amazing spot. Beautiful hike in and out as well. Fantastic coast views and beautiful trails. There are two different paths you can take to get to the falls, one is the long way around the other is a bit of climbing down the coastal rock ledge. Beautiful spot to enjoy for awhile.
  • Truly amazing! Started at Bear Valley Visitor Center. 16 mi roundtrip. Beautiful trails. Last mile on the beach took a tad longer than expected (sand slows you down). As everyone says, make sure you avoid high tide because the beach pretty much disappears I've heard. Had lunch at a picnic table at Wildcat campground. Gang of elk nearby was super cool.
  • At the point of this review we had been experiencing several years of drought. Several trails I have been hiking in the bay area are devoid of any water either in the rivers or small ponds. The coast trail out to Alamere Falls is filled with water bodies, lush canopy, open ocean views out to the Pacific, and abundant birds singing their songs. The Alamere Falls was a nice respite for viewing water cascading over several drops before finally ending in the Pacific. A beautiful gem of a destination to hike out to and enjoy some peace far from any roads or urban landscape. There was a nice little rock scramble to view during my trip since the beach trail was overrun by the King's Tide.
  • Start early for a good parking spot Bathroom located in front of the trail and end where campsite is Keep lot of water and food. Have lunch by the water fall is amazing. With shortcut to the falls is around 3 miles Short cut is dangerous, do not rely on stones for support because it does break easily. I took of my shoes for better grip, I did freak out seeing how the rocks can just come off any second. Be careful where you sit and eat because when the wind is heavy it blows the small pieces of rocks ( the same rocks that we may rely on when coming down the shirt cut) There is a reason why the website say they don't recommend the shortcut. If you don't have to then do not take the short cut. There is a long walk on the beach so be prepared..I should say an hour maybe one way Last thing the short cut is totally doable but it's just the sliding down to the beach that is totally crazy. Happy hiking.
  • Long hike, but worth it for the beautiful views. If you take the shortcut to the falls, the last part with the cliff edge to the beach is a bit sketchy (see my photos). The views of the upper falls from the shortcut though should not be missed! To whomever add the the super secure long rope to the cliff face, THANK YOU!
