The Nichols House Museum is a museum at 55 Mount Vernon Street on Beacon Hill in Boston, Massachusetts. The house in which it is located was designed by the architect Charles Bulfinch, and built by Jonathan Mason, the politician, in 1804. The building was renovated in 1830. The museum is named for Rose Standish Nichols (1872–1960), the renowned landscape gardener, suffragist, pacifist, and member of the Cornish Art Colony, who lived in the house between 1885 and 1960. She left the house to be used as a museum after her death. The museum preserves the lifestyle of the American upper class during Nichols' lifetime, with turn-of-the-century period rooms.

  • Fabulous home and history. The guide was VERY knowledgeable and very nice. The decor was beautiful. It was nice to see the insides of a historic Beacon Hill home.
  • Solid place to visit. The tour guide was great. This museum has a lot of cool art pieces with a little family history sprinkled in.
  • I had such a great time visiting this place where I could imagine myself living in this house. Liz was extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. She also tailors the tour base off of your interests. The interior and decor were really interesting especially I got to learn about some history and how people at the time use their furniture differently in this Bostonian federal house. It was a really rewarding visit. Highly recommended!
  • Informative guide & very progressive family who helped their community & preserved their lovely home. Hand-carved woodwork & old worldly art & intricate embroidery. Lots of amazing things to admire & learn about!
  • Lovely house museum in the heart of Beacon Hill. Reserve a tour head of time; you can only visit as part of a guided tour.
