Step back in time almost 200 years to experience maritime history at USS Constitution Museum. Housed in a restored shipyard building at the former Charlestown Navy Yard, the museum features an array of interactive exhibits and artifacts dedicated to the history and preservation of the USS Constitution. Experience life at sea aboard “Old Ironsides” by furling a sail and firing a cannon, or take a tour of the ship to explore below deck. Bring photo ID as you must have it to enter the museum. Great history of the USS Constitution. I highly recommend for families with children. Most of the exhibits are hands on and designed with kids in mind.

It was really interesting. If anything, we could have done with a little more time 30 minutes too short, and an extra 15 minutes would have been good. As a free guided tour, we can't complain. Clear..... more

What an incredible experience and opportunity to walk the oldest commissioned naval ship. The history and restoration were absolutely stunning. The museum is phenomenal as well. Well worth and can be toured within 2 hours and that is taking your time and reading everything as we do. The dry dock is a neat perk too.

If you visit Boston for it's history, you should not miss to visit the USS Constitution Museum and the surrounding area. All exhibits are very well maintained and restored. You would about two to three hours to visit everything. More if you are interested in detailed history of every major exhibit. Try and visit both ships that are docked there (USS Constitution & USS Cassin Young). Great experience for history buffs or not.

Must see this museum and great ship that had a huge impact on America's founding history! Free for military! (On certain days, its free for entire military family) The star of this historical landmark is no doubt the USS Constitution, but also enjoy the nice walk through of USS Cassin Young (DD 793) as well. Learn about how this area supported the entire rope making industry for the entire Navy or how tremendously large the anchor chain making foundries were! Highly recommend bring your entire family to see if in the Boston area!

We went in mainly to find the only bathroom around but it was full of interesting things to see. There were models of the ship, even one made of Legos in the kids section. We spent about an hour inside since it was much cooler than outside. They have a large gift shop but I wanted to find a historical book about the ship for kids but nothing but a novel sized edition.

Wonderful experience. Went aboard both the Constitution and the Cassin Young. Wear good walking shoes. Lots of steep ladders of you want to access lower decks on the Constitution. Access to the ships is free, but I believe the museum requires tickets.
