  • This is a treat to visit with obvious love and care applied by many volunteers local to the Brevard, NC community. We went to see the aluminum Christmas tree exhibit and enjoyed a delightful trip...

  • Always call ahead! Trip Advisor has 10-5 Saturday’s posted, but the front door says the museum closed at 3. Long trip across the mountain from Waynesville in the pouring rain. Sigh.

  • Situated in a small, quaint house, this museum has a wonderful timeline with spectacular photos that tell the history of the county and of Brevard, the county seat from its formation to present...

  • Visited the museum, for the first time, to see the aluminum tree exhibit. Parking is conveniently located next to the museum and there is a ramp at the front entrance. Volunteers were friendly and greeted guests upon entering. There is a gift shop with some small local art and history items for sale. Visitors were smiling as they walked through the 3-4 rooms filled with trees, vintage ornaments, info about the owner of the collection, and more. Job well done to all involved!
  • We went for the Aluminum Christmas Tree exhibit, but for me the best part was the fundraiser "Plant Sale" outside with a great collection of dead plants!
  • There is always the well thought out display of history. When I visited, it was 'Women In History' (until Oct. 2021). Friendly volunteers and staff are amazing with their knowledge of local history, and always help one feel welcome. Be sure to visit the parking lot plant sale too while you're there! Sales help go toward museum upkeep and historical preservation.
  • This is a fun little Museum and the aluminum Christmas tree exhibit is really cool. It won't take you long, maybe 30 to 60 minutes. It is a little difficult to see from the road, but it's close to the post office. You can park on the street or they have a parking lot with plenty of room. There is a suggested donation of $5 for adults or $2 for children.
  • This is a modest but lovingly set up museum featuring artifacts exhibiting the history of Transylvania County. At our visit, the exhibit on display pertained to quilting, weaving and needlework crafts throughout the decades of the county's existence--very interesting. A visit here should not take more than an hour but is worthwhile.
