Create an itinerary including Navajo/Queens Garden Loop
One of many moderate trails, Navajo/Queens Garden Loop remains one of the most popular options for hikers. The Navajo Loop passes through a narrow canyon popularly called "Wall Street"--you'll see why when you go through it. The Navajo/Qeens combo loop offers an easier ascent, allowing you to reach the famed Sunrise Point, then follow another trail back to your car for a satisfying round trip. • Queen's Garden Trail is moderate in length and difficulty, but it really packs an incredible amount of amazing scenery in a relatively short amount of time. It is best done as part of a loop hike with Navajo / Wall Street Loop or Peek-A-Boo (if it isn't closed because of rock falls). The loop is doable in either direction (I started at Queen's Garden and ended at Navajo) so which way is best depends on either lighting conditions or whether you want to take the Navajo switchbacks on the way down or up. Nearly impossible to get lost and you will have a lot of people on the trail with you at all times, but it is still a really enjoyable hike. Highly recommended
  • Hiked Queens Garden Trail shortly before sunset in July 2021. Did not complete the full trail as the sun was going to set soon and we wanted to view it from Sunrise Point and not be stuck on the trail in the dark. The trail was short and decently flat compared to the rest of the park. A very easy hike, more like a nature walk, offering views from within the canyon.
  • It's a beautiful trail, but remember, hiking down is optional. Hiking back up is mandatory. That said, it's not too tough of a hike, and it's only slightly steep at the beginning and the end. We did it in a steady light snowfall, and it was awesome. Ice spikes are pretty much mandatory for winter hiking.
  • The Queen's Garden Trail connects to Navajo Loop Trail. Park near Sunset Point, hike down into the canyon, turn left on on the trail to connect with Queen's Garden which you'll follow up to Sunrise Point. From there you'll walk along the Rim Trail back to the parking lot at Sunset Point. This route took our family of four about 2 hours. This trail has a steep decent and ascent. The soil is loose which makes it easy to slip on the way down. Very fun and adventurous for older kids and teens! Parking tends to fill up during peak times so arrive early or plan on circling around until something opens up. Real restrooms and a water filling station are available. My last tip would be to take a park map with you or study the map carefully before your descent. The markers are worn and basically unreadable. There was a lot of confusion at the area where you see "the Queen." There's a little there-and-back trail that shoots off the loop that's not really visible on googlemaps. People were visibly confused about where to go.
  • We started from Sunrise Point since we saw people at Two Bridges saying they came from Sunrise Point. It marked as Navajo Loop and Queens Garden trail at Alltrails. The close view of these rocks was magnificent alongside of the trail. It was also fun trying to figure out where is the Victoria Queen Hoodoo with other tourists. We encountered sudden weather change and it started snowing, so in last part we had to walk faster to the Sunset Point. It's unforgivable experience.
