Part of a state park that offers an extensive network of trails, Mount Battie provides great views over Penobscot Bay. It's a short but rewarding hike to the south-facing side of the mountain summit, where a stone tower ensures even better vistas of the surrounding area. If you're not into strenuous activities, drive up to the summit via Mt. Battie Auto Rd. Our Camden trip builder website makes visiting Mount Battie and other Camden attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • I did an 8 1/2 mile hike seeing the harbor overlook which is spectacular and the summit. Truly one of the best hikes around and a must on your to-do list!!

  • Just amazingly beautiful. A picture perfect view from the top. Nice easy walk and enjoyed the ‘castle’ view. The ships in the harbor looked like a postcard!

  • We were leaving Camden and decided to stop and drive up to Mt. Battie at the State Park. It was a beautiful autumn morning. We were rewarded with beautiful views of Camden and surrounding area.

  • Nice sup road to top. Amazing panoramic views. Cool history boards. Excellent tower with spiral staircase. Fun to see so far and the different terrains.
  • Driving up the Mount Battie auto road, and looking over Camden and much of Penobscot Bay was a highlight of our trip. The views are beautiful, the crowds manageable, and the experience memorable.
  • Nice peak. It can get a little busy at the top bc it’s also open to cars and not just hikers. Looks out over Camden Bay. The hike from the State Park entrance isn’t bad. There is a small fee to get in. Park in the lot designated “Hikers Parking”. Along the trail, there are a few steep bits but nothing too challenging. If you are looking for a bit more, go from the Mt. Battie peak to the ocean lookout. It’s straight up and super rocky, plus another great view.
  • Super easy drive up to the top. Small charge to get into the park itself- they do take credit cards too. The views are gorgeous. You can get a map and it will show you all of the hiking trails within the park.
  • The view on the summit is stunning once you navigate the minefield of potholes, bumps, and crumbling pavement leading you there. Shame on Maine for charging a toll and not using same to maintain this road.
