The shoreline at Cannon Beach is one of Oregon’s most treasured landmarks, distinguished by its pristine sandy beaches and the monolithic Haystack Rock. This picturesque beach is abundant with wildlife and is perfect for exploring tide pools and spotting birds, including tufted puffins and cormorants. Avoid the summer crowds at Ecola Creek by opting for the stretches towards Silver Point instead. The town itself is full of independent shops, art galleries, and theaters, thanks to strict regulations limiting large chain stores and restaurants. Put Cannon Beach on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Cannon Beach day trip planning website.

This was really cool! We came in the morning when it was not super busy and it was my birthday! The rock changes in your perspective as you move closer to it which is pretty awesome. It looks so...

We visited for sunset and it is my friend’s first time to see Pacific. The ocean was so beautiful and the sunset colored the sky. Totally worth it although It was a bit chill in Dec and the road condition between Portland and here was icy.

This is our first point of our Road trip on 101 till SF and this beach was our introduction to Pacific ! The beach is as majestic as the Pacific ocean. Great place to take long strolls. The Haystack rock is the highlight of the beach. The water on the Pacific North West are cold even during Summers and so we cannot wade in the water barefoot for more than a couple of minutes. Would like to come back here to catch the Sunset. Parking was a bit tricky here although it was not too crowded.

Staggeringly beautiful, even in unpleasant weather. I was there on a gray, sometimes sideways rain day and it was worth it! Amazing to see the rocks juxtaposed with the sand and water. Best to go during low tide, so you can walk around the giant rock! Parking and accessing the beach is tricky, and be careful to park in legal areas.

Wow this is a must see! If you’re on the West Coast and debating if you should visit Cannon Beach, just do it. It’s about an hours drive from Portland. The drive itself was so scenic and beautiful. Once you arrive into town there are lots of shops, restaurants and of course the beach. We stopped to eat before walking to the beach and admiring the beauty. You can see the Hay Stack as soon as you enter the shore and there are lots of people walking, relaxing and admiring the beauty with you. We weren’t sure if it would be swimmable in August, and I can assure you; nobody is swimming. It’s much too cold and windy, but still worth it to walk and admire. Would come back! Next time I’d like to bring a chair and really take it in.

Fantastic beach! Beautiful coastline for walking, running and cycling. Rocky stones just look majestic! Good hotels nearby, food fresh store and all nature is 👍👏❤️
