This is a jewel of Carlsbad. A beautiful ranch with lots of history behind it. Peacocks walk the property. Lots of wildflowers now. The scent of orange blossoms in the air. Great for history buffs...

A wonderful experience into the past. Who knew Leo was such wonderful actor in his time. His homestead shows his love of his culture and heritage.

No sign at the entrance that roughly half the site was closed for a wedding. The hacienda and several other primary locations were closed off. Wish we would have known that as we wouldn’t have gone.... more

Always enjoyed our visit here at the ranch! We started visiting in 2020 when the pandemic started. The ranch is spacious and open. This provides ample of distance between our family and others. There are many benches and tables for people to have a picnic and kids to run around. It was fun and educational to walk around and see the architecture of the houses. The best time to visit is March to June. One can hear and see wild peacocks in the ranch. Local residents may not like to hear them because the peacocks are really loud during mating season but it is a joy to many to see the beautiful birds. Did I say that these are wild birds? Please don’t feed the birds and respect their space!!!

Wow! So much history. The architecture and landscaping is exquisite 👌. They even have orange, lemon, and lime trees. The aroma fills the air! Peacocks are walking around free. This place was everything!!! I got to see where actor extrodonaire Clarke Gable laid his head. Just wonderful!

Amazing stop! Worth the drive up from San Diego! My family and I love history, and all the employees and volunteers were lovely and knowledgeable! The short film in the Visitors Center was a nice surprise as well! Beautiful place to explore with lots of history.

Peaceful historic ranch located just a tad west of San Marcos, south of Vista. Visited here for my first time attending friend’s wedding so the review is heavily tilted towards the set up of the wedding. Set up of the outdoor ceremony was wonderful and well organized and all of the staffs were very kind. The place had a lot of sign boards explaining the history of the ranch, animals & plants on the property etc. It’s a surprising find tucked away in Carlsbad residential area.

I can't believe I had never been here before. We were looking to get outside and go for a walk and we decided to head over. What a fun place to cruise around! Not only is there a lot to look at, but there's peacocks running around which is Great to look out for! It was very interesting seeing this estate and all the different areas from the stables, to the pool, to the bedrooms.
