Paddle NC was founded in 2013 after the owner, Walt, spent 10 years building his company Hidden Reef Eco Tours on St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. When he returned to North Carolina he envisioned a kayak touring and rental company that allowed people the opportunity to see the beautiful waters of the coast the way we love to see them; from the water. In 2013 he opened our locations at Carolina Beach State Park, near Wilmington, and Hammocks Beach State Park, near Swansboro, offering kayak tours and rentals as well as stand up paddleboard (SUP) tours and rentals. In 2014 a third location opened on North Topsail Island offering those same services in the Topsail Island Sound. 2016 opened another chapter for Paddle NC as the Jacksonville location opened, offering services on New River. Now in 2017, we are excited to open a location in Fort Fisher State Recreation Area, near Kure Beach, providing surf board rentals and instruction, beach chair and umbrella rentals, SUP rentals, body board rentals, bike rentals, and beach game rentals.Plan my trip to Carolina Beach with suggested itineraries provided by Klarna Trips.

Had an amazing time kayaking in Cape Fear river. Rates are $33 for two hours and the kayaks are nice. Paddle NC provides life by eats, maps, and recommendations for where to go. Employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Saw jellies, tons of sea birds, fish, and all sorts of shellfish. Beautiful day out on the water!!

Super easy online booking and paperwork. Fantastic staff. We found them very helpful. The guide gave an easy to understand brief training prior to our launch. Picked out the best equipment for us to use and set us up for success. It was a beautiful day on the water. We saw pelicans hunting, which was super interesting to watch. We saw egrets and seagulls. That was great. The wake from the boats blasting by wasn't as much fun. I enjoyed the paddling, while the hubs kept saying, "now I know exactly why man invented engines for boats." The hubs and I have been considering getting a kayak to enjoy the water and nature. We booked this tour to see if our thoughts matched what we experienced. What we learned today saved us at least $1,200, because although I like Kayaking the hubs hated it. We declared it the best $50 we've spent in a long time!

Had a great time paddling with Megan, she was super friendly, knowledgeable, and patient with us. Got some amazing photos and fun time on the water. We were visiting for the weekend and she totally made us feel at home.

We came with our two boys who are three and five. I'm also 6 months pregnant so our tour ended up being altered. Our youngest didn't love the waves so we stopped at a closer island and explored the wildlife. Our tour guide, Mark was awesome. He was very knowledgeable about the ecosystem including the animals and plants. My five-year-old loved asking him questions. He even held some crabs for my kids to inspect. Even though we ended up doing more hiking than kayaking we had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend this company.

We did an kayak Eco tour with two kids and two adults. Our guide was great. Very helpful with the kayak part as we’re beginners and he was great with our kids. We kayaked out to a sandbar and did a nature walk along the beach. Our guide helped kids identify creatures and was very patient with all of their questions. We really enjoyed our outing with Paddle NC. Definitely recommend.
