Nevada State Museum, Carson City

Visited the State Museum with my family and we had a great time. It's not a huge Museum but it's sure filled with a lot to see. One of our favorite parts was the mint area. The video you can watch has some really interesting information on Carson City and the history of the Mint through the years. They do have it open to see actual minting of coins but just on Saturdays I believe. There are parts that they are expanding and we can't wait to go see the new parts of the museum when it's all done.

What an excellent State Museum! From the ancient history of Nevada to modern day, everything is in one place. It is a wonder that such a sparsely Populated state would have such an amazing museum. Especially enjoyed the taxidermy and Nevada history wings. I didn’t realize this was a US mint so there is a lot of history here. Not just the gaming industry but all the mining and contributions that Nevada, the state has made. I highly recommend taking time out for this Museum it’s fun to know as much about the state as it’s residents.

I have visited many museums around world, this is a cute local museum with some unique exhibits about Carson City Mint and the silver mining. I was visiting a former colleague who has been living in Carson City for over 24 years after she got retired. She recommended the museum and we had a good time checking out the exhibits. As a guy, I also liked the gun exhibits and early gambling slot machines, you don’t see those exhibits in other major museums. The natural history section is very rudimentary. In all, it was well worth the two hours we spent there! Cheers!

The Nevada State Museum is an amazing museum to visit in Carson City and in the State of Nevada. It was much larger than I had anticipated and I spent the last 1.5 hours in the museum until the minute they closed. You can easily spend 2-3+ hours here seeing everything that it offers. Likely will visit again to see everything with more time available. Only costs $10 and I highly recommend if in Carson City and a great wait to beat the heat or the cold.

The Nevada State Museum is fascinating! I have been to a lot of museums, including those in Washington DC, and this one is my favorite! It is huge, one visit is not enough. They have a Native American section, Geology, Natural History, Nevada History, a Ghost Town, and my favorite, the very realistic Mining Tunnels! The historic Nevada Mint is part of the museum and they mint coins on Saturdays. Altogether, a wonderful experience!!
