As a person who has wanted to learn to fly all of my life I can say my experience with Wolf and his flying school was one of the best experiences of my life. I cannot say that I am very knowledgeable about other flying schools but Wolf and Craig can get you into flying in an informal setting that does not mean they cut corners on your education. You are required to learn as that is the basis for flying safely and responsibly. If you are serious about flying Wolf is serious about turning out knowledgeable and safe pilots. I received my sport license at 67 years old so don't think you are too old if you honestly want to fly. For me five stars are just not enough for Wolf, unfortunately that is as many as they give and he deserves all of them. My name is Richard Leffler and I cannot thank Wolf enough for my experience.

Face it, becoming a pilot is not cheap. Lives are on the line. It’s a serious pursuit for serious people. It’s also a total blast. And the instructors with Captain Drake’s just get it. Wolf is one of my favorite all time people. His partner instructors love to fly as well and between them all they have lifetimes of experience to share with aspiring student pilots. When you sign on with Captain Drakes you get everything you need and everything you pay for. Most instructors gloss over the ground school component of learning to be a pilot. Learning air spaces, and airplanes, and air traffic is no easy thing. It’s not something that that any typically intelligent person can sufficiently understand by clicking on some online videos and taking in some dvd’s. When it comes to in-air time people forget that the minimums required are just that - minimums. Nobody should assume they will be competent enough to keep everyone safe with just a minimal amount of training. On average students require double the minimum to pass the unforgiving exam but you’ll won’t hear many hourly part-time instructors share that info. Learning to fly ought be a full time experience. Immerse yourself. When staying at the lodge your instructors will get to know you, what you know, and what you need know. You’ll get to live with pilots who live to fly. You’ll get to share in their passion and learn from their stories. The beds are comfortable, the fireplace is soothing, the pool relaxing, the riverside trails are tranquil, the views are majestic, the planes well cared for, your co-pilots supportive, and the hosts are the best friends that you never knew you had. Captain Drake's Family Aerial Adventures is the premiere flight training school on the west coast! While I am not personally a student (yet), I have stayed at Captain Drake's Air BnB in O'Brien! While there, I have observed the classes in session, both the classroom and the flight sessions. Captain Drake is a flight instructor AND a designated pilot examiner. The package he offers students is beyond compare! Also, the setting in the Illinois Valley in Oregon is fabulous because the airport is small and the aerial views are stunning. Sitting on the veranda or in the main lodge room, one can see no signs of civilization, wilderness as far as the eyes can see!

Great flight school experience! Even after I have earned my Sport Pilot Certificate, I often go visit just to say hi and go to lunch with Wolf, Ann and Sky! I highly recommend Capt Drake's!
