  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Pocahontas State Park. We rented the cabins. Entrance fees are reasonable and park staff very helpful. There are a lot of small and larger trails. The lake is quiet and lots of natural views. We saw people paddle boating, kayaking and saw a few people fishing as well. The lake area is quaint and peaceful. There is also swimming pool enough to keep the kids occupied. I believe it is in the park property and people who rent cabins etc get a discount on the entry fee. The campground is well organized with barbecue grills, camp fire. Each campground had 5-6 cluster of cabins with 1-4 bunk beds. Its bare minimum but just perfect for camping. Toilets with showers are close by to the cabins. Definitely a perfect place to enjoy the nature, hike, boat or bike. We definitely had a good time and enjoyed our visit. Also for some reason there were not a lot of mosquitoes in early August but I did see a few dear running around.
  • Trails were in great shape and the foliage still showing so e color with lots of leaves. Other hikers are usually families or dog lovers, so expect some passing by others on your hike. All pets were well behaved. Fun to hike and walk out on a floating pier during our hike on the beaver lake trail. Several benches along the hike are great spots if looking for a picnic spot. And our dogs like it too! Great loop for young or less traveled hikers.
  • Great park all around, and not too many bugs (I think.) There's something for everyone, biking, kayaking, you name it. Really nice Bbq spots with most areas fitting up to 30 people. Camping is nice and really well organized, although some campsites can be very close to each other. The entrance fee you pay is fair and boat rental prices are affordable. Every week there's some kind of event going on. Enjoy your stay!
  • This review is for the Aquatic Center. Great water park for my 3 and 6 year old. There are separate pools: 1.5' baby pool, 6 foot pool, 3 foot pool, and knee deep splash park with tube slides, underwater tunnels, dump buckets, etc. The big slides and spray ground are closed for repairs as of 7/6/22 and apparently have been for a while but it didn't matter for us. The splash pad was one of the best I've seen this summer. There's a snack bar with pizza, nachos, hotdogs, ice cream, candy and chips, bottled drinks. They accept credit at the snack bar and also for admission. Entry to Pocahontas State Park fee is per car and then admission to the pool is $8/adult and $7 kids 3-12. Down the hill from the pool is a lake where you can rent paddle boats and canoes by the hour. Super fun too.
  • My husband and I decided to stay in the park while attending a wedding that was being held there instead of a local hotel. It was such a new and awesome experience! It was different from our normal tent camping, but so worth it! We even checked in late after hours and they had our info packet posted with everything we needed to access the yurt! Park restrooms and showers were very clean and every morning without fail a ranger was cleaning them. Staff was super friendly and the park is beautiful. Finished off the trip with a morning hike on the trails. Such a great glamping experience at Pocahontas State Park and can’t wait to come back!
