    Make sure you do this scenic drive after 6p (my drive was in July) or very close to dusk. The elk come down the mountains to munch on the green vegetation! I saw several herds! Have the camera ready.....  more

    This is one of the best drives in New Mexico, and certainly the best in the southern half of the state. It has both scenery and things to do in abundance. We had a wonderful long weekend in the area.....  more

    Not sure when this route will reopen to the public, but it should only be used for residential travel now... and the Inn of the Mountain Gods is closed for the most part. The Village of Ruidoso also....  more
