Set at 1,700-2,060 m (5,570-6,760 ft) elevations, Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument features tall, cone-shaped rock formations, canyons, and hiking trails. The geological formations--the tent rocks or hoodoos--have been created by volcanic ash accumulation and sculpted by wind, water, freezing, and thawing, through millions of years of erosion. Take the 1.9 km (1.2 mi) trail, through canyons and overlooking the tent rocks, which can stretch as high as 27 m (90 ft). Another trail passes along the base of the rocks, on a 2 km (1.3 mi) loop; hike it to see them up close. Amazing scenery on a pretty easy hike. There is a little crawling and sliding on your rear end in sections but the trail is short and the views are spectacular. The only downside is that the park has a very small capacity and once it's full you have to wait for a car to leave before you are allowed to park.

Fantastic views of slot canyons and "tent rock" hoodoos. Pretty easy and scenic hike to the overlook then continue on the cave loop, a total of 3.2 miles and 839 ft of elevation. I would have liked a longer hike but the views and scenery make a visit here well worth it. Get here early though, or you'll have to wait to get in. Opens at 8am.

This is such a beautiful place. Heavily trafficked, so you are passing people all the time. Regardless the serenity, beauty, and palpable energy are well worth the short trek. Slightly steep toward the end however that section of the trail is closed when very icy. Still, I reiterate that this hike is well worth it whether you make it to the top or not. It is gorgeous!

Went there on a Saturday in February and it was great. The rocks are amazing and the hike was nice though it was blocked at the end by snow and ice. It was interesting to learn about what caused them-it seems like the whole west was built by volcanos, wind and water. Rangers we met were very helpful and friendly

It’s a must easy hike when you’re in Santa Fe. Took us 50 minutes to get there and spent three hours easy hike and ate our sandwiches with a view. It was winter when we went around January so there’s. Trail that’s closed because of packed ice in between the rocks. Definitely pack your polarized camera lens if you want an spectacular photo of going in the middle of the day and yes take that bathroom run before starting your hike.
