Back Country Safari Tours, Corolla

Wife and I greatly enjoyed our tour last week. It was enjoyable the first hour or so but honestly we had a concern at the time we wouldn't see any horses. We understood from the get go, they are wild animals living in a big area and no one has control of where they are. Jeff (hope that is the correct spelling), our guide did a great job. He was very entertaining throughout and was very focused on us seeing horses. With his expertise we ending up seeing 14-15 horses on the tour. We recommend this tour highly.

Hubby & I took the combined wild horse & kayak adventure and we totally recommend it! We were scheduled for a Wednesday but the weather was horrible so they called and offered to cancel or reschedule to the following day at the same time. Shout out to Riley - great communication & customer service. Our guide, Brandon, was great. We left right on time and since he lives on the island, he knows all the nooks & crannies. It's a fun & bumpy & wild ride on the beach once the paved road ends! We saw many wild horses while in the truck and surprisingly, we even saw some while kayaking. It was a fun filled 3+ hours. Take the tour...you'll love it!!!

We had an awesome experience! The weather was misty , cloudy and very chilly . We did not get to see the horses on the beach but instead found them in the yards of the Corolla residents and in the brush . They were so calm and beautiful. Gary our tour guide was a breath of fresh air ! 🙂We enjoyed talking with a sweet couple from Boston on our journey. Will definitely do this again on a sunny day. Maybe we will find them playing on the beach or get to see a foal . 🙂

We had a family vacation planned with 7 adults and 4 children (toddlers) and I called to set up a tour for us. Originally it was only 6 adults and 3 children, but we had another friend join which gave us the 7 and 4 numbers. I talked to Riley, who was able to book our family on a trip and also squeeze in our other members that joined us later. When arriving, Riley was there and remembered us. She even greeted me by name, just from our phone conversations. She helped load us up and made sure our car seats were safely secured. She was also our tour guide. "Smiley Riley" is what she told us. Once the tour begin, she was even better. She was knowledgeable, friendly with the children, and a great driver. We didn't get stuck and that was a plus! She gave us a great tour and provided us with trivia/history that we didn't know previously. Overall, this tour was the highlight of our trip as everyone enjoyed it. We would recommend Riley for anyone else wanting to participate in this tour. 10/10 when we come back to the Outer Banks, we will definitely do this again.

There are a lot of wild horse tour operators in Corolla. Back Country Safari Tours is hands-down the best. Our family of 4 had so much fun. If you're considering booking a horse tour, don't hesitate - this is the one. This tour was the highlight of our Outer Banks trip. Our tour guide Gary made the experience great. He was welcoming, funny and informative. Did I mention funny? Gary was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the horses. His passion and respect for them was obvious. The drive along the beach and into the protected territory was really beautiful. Gary had no trouble locating the horses and telling us about each horse we saw (names, lineage, characteristics). Highly recommend!
