Just looking at wizard island is a five-star experience. Imagine the geology. This enormous volcano erupted. Then thousands of years later wizard island, a smaller volcano was born from the original.

Crater Lake features two small islands. Wizard Island, is near the western edge of the lake, (and views of it are accessible from the Rim Drive) is a cinder cone approximately 316 acres in size. It is separated from the caldera wall by Skell Channel. The other island is Phantom Ship. Wizard Island's s tallest point is 6,940 feet, but it looks small compared to the height of the caldera. It is also accessible from the water by boat trip and private fishing craft. (Inquire about these at the Visitor Center).

No access to this part of Crater Lake during covid. But how it came about after the lake had formed is pretty cool.

Cool island. No wizards, though.

Can anybody find any wizards here? I came on an expedition to prove the existence of wizards but can’t seem to find a single one. Although this one man seemed to look like a lowlife from L.A which was a little suspicious to me. I won’t stop looking until I find one. I’ll keep on coming back. No one can stop me. No one.

The island within the Crater Lake caldera can be reached via the concessionaire tour boat and can be see from most locations along the rim. You can go swimming and fish and scuba diving. There is also a trail up to the top, Witches Cauldron. :-)
