From a 1,669 m (5,476 ft) high terrace, Dante's View provides a panoramic view of the southern Death Valley basin. Look for the Devil's Golf Course--a field of complex mineral formations that looks like a large body of water from above. See the Owlshead Mountains, the Great Basin ranges, and the 3,367 m (11,047 ft) Telescope Peak. On a very clear day, you may even be rewarded with a sight of the highest and lowest points in the entire contiguous United States. Bear in mind that, because of the wind and elevation, you'll need warmer clothes than when visiting the valley. Drove up to the overlook on our way out of the park. A breathtaking view. Very windy and cold. Wish I could have stayed longer but I think it was below freezing with the wind chill.

Awe inspiring views from Dante's point. There's a reason it has its strange name, that too in the Death Valley! It's sandy, barren in most places and can be tricky to hike around (so best get your good boots on!) but so worth it! You can only admire it's magnificence and feel humbled by it so do try to soak it in both with and without a camera. Very few places in the world will make you feel like this so make the most of it.

Best place to lay eyes on the valley. Soupy browns and tans and beige swirling below. I was here for sunset and it was windy, chilly.

You need to take a side road just to get to this point but its totally worth it. The views from the top are amazing! There are rugged mountains, you can also see salt flats all the way down (bring your zoom lens for close ups). Big enough parking lot, you can also take a trail for different views/angles. Death valley gets really hot in summer, so it is recommended to visit in winter time. Carry a lot of water with you and fill up your gas before entering the park as it is huge!

Incredible views. There's some nice small hikes you can do to get different angles of the view. Use caution in the last section up, many drivers tend to cut corners and will drift into your lane on blind corners.

Pictures don't do this viewpoint justice. Very pretty, but really cold in January! We hiked over to Dante's Peal Lookout. It's quite far from the other popular spots in the park, but it was worth the drive.
