Famous as the spot on the cover of the U2 album "The Joshua Tree," Zabriskie Point is a geological curiosity formed by sediment from a dried-up lake. Thermal waters gave it color, and wind and lava shaped its erosion patterns. This location is named after Christian Zabriskie, vice-president of the Borax company, which had mining operations in Death Valley. The sun makes high-contrast shadows on the formations, which change over the course of the day. Put Zabriskie Point and other Death Valley National Park attractions into our Death Valley National Park trip itinerary maker, and watch your holiday take shape.

Beautiful view point in the Death Valley National Park. You can see the Marble Cake mountain which looks like, well a marble cake 🙂 It's best to visit around an hour before sunset so you can hike around the area before soaking in stunning views of the mountain. Make sure to wear proper hiking boots (not just sneakers) since the terrain can be grainy and slippy.

One of the more beautiful places to be at during sunset in Death Valley. The colors of the landscape during that time is spectacular and you’ll get some really good photos. There’s a large viewing area and you can walk off to the side and go sit on the rocks and even hike down to the valley below.

An awe inspiring view of the surrounding landscape that one must physically see for themselves. If you are in Death Valley take the time to experience this place — you won’t regret it. While many people are often here don’t let that discourage you! Bring a camera or don’t the pictures hardly do it justice. I went for a hike with some friends and found it to be a wonderful challenge of my endurance. Be sure to bring water & snacks but leave no trace!

Beautiful! My friend knew this amazing spot from prior visits. It is absolutely worth taking a detour to admire this beauty of nature. Parking is easy and the walk to the point only takes a couple of minutes. The view from the Vista is absolutely breathtaking.

This point is extremely beautiful during the sun rise and set time. There is also a hiking trail goes all the way to Golden canyon on the west side. There is big parking lot but sometimes it is full. There are also some stairs to the viewing area. The surround is very colorful and beautiful but the real beauty if you hike into the hills. The place is named after the American businessman and vice president of the Pacific Coast Borax Company: Christian Brevoort Zabriskie (1864 - 1936).
