Bowlin's Akela Flats Trading Post, Deming

Stopped here on my way to San Diego from Florida and I must say this place had me in awe. Very clean bathroom and oh so many unique gifts to choose from! This place is definitely a must stop! The employee's were also extremely nice and helpful.

My family and I always stop at Bowlin's Akela Flats when we're traveling through. I love the homemade fudge. The kids love the weird souvenirs. There's always gorgeous jewelry and interesting bumper stickers there. Can't beat the gas prices. Only down side is the bathrooms. Those are kinda scary. But if you avoid those, the place is a hoot.

Do you want gas? Keep going to Deming or Las Cruces to save $.60 to almost a dollar per gallon. Do you want junk? Go in there and buy some fake Native American stuff made in China. Do you want jewelry? You can get it almost anywhere else cheaper. This place is set up for the impulse buy. The people there try to do a good job but they’re usually understaffed. The only reason to stop here is because they have fresh baked cookies hot out of the oven but they are not homemade. Because they’re fresh though makes them better than say, chips a hoy?

Update: we just stopped in here again on Monday September 13th and had a wonderful time! Very, very friendly people! I recommend everybody to stop here. This is one of the best stores I've ever been to. It's not just a gas station, it's a lot more!

Extremely friendly staff, very nice well stocked bathrooms. Currently on a 20+ hour road trip and it was a treat to see the only thing shinning brighter then the bathrooms were the staff's smiles 😃. Best stop so far! I was very happy to see them go as far as haveing a chart for hourly cleaning to insure the bathrooms stay clean and a priority
