Create an itinerary including Purgatory Resort
Take a turn along the many trails of Purgatory Resort amid the rugged San Juan Mountains. Ten ski lifts and 88 trails mean you'll rarely find lines for the slopes. The extraordinary amount of snowfall here--averaging 6.7 m (22 ft) per year--ensures that the slopes are well-supplied. At the summit at 3,299 m (10,822 ft), you'll be rewarded with views of peaks and bowls etched with evergreens and aspen trees. The resort's ominous nickname, Purgatory, comes from the name of the creek that runs through the region. Plan my trip to Durango with suggested itineraries provided by Klarna Trips.

  • We had a great trip skiing and snowboarding. For the most part the mountain staff was helpful, and the snow was great. Very expensive, not sure how people can afford ski trips anymore, really...

  • This is a very fun resort for a family. We have skiers from ages 6-66 years old and we all enjoyed the runs. Unfortunately towards the end of the day, my husband fell and within moment ski patrol...

  • No reason to buy tix early. After waiting in a line specified for will call and season passes, we were told to pick up will call in the ticket purchasing line. Should have kept your pass from last...

  • We had a great time on the snowmobile tour. Great trail into the forest. Fantastic guide and additional staff. Stopped at several places for pictures and even had a stop at the end where it was wide open and people could “zoom” around. Good equipment, great scenery and even better staff. Highly recommend
  • Kids had fun at their lessons. We had kids in the Bear Den (4-6) and older kids lessons. All of them were able to stop and a turn. We worked with them a little further the next day and they were able to make it down the greens on day 2. Love that the greens are separated from the blues and blacks. It makes it more conducive for learning for the littles and those that want to just shred up the mountain don’t have those that are still learning in their way. Much safer and less frustrating that way for all. The hot cocoa was great and good pizza. Great experience at Purgatory over all!
  • Riding here since 2005. Good intermediate resort. Recently started a family and got the parent share pass. We want to ask: why is there no changing station in the men’s restroom? When my husband and I take turns riding and hanging out with our little girls at the bottom he has no place to go change a diaper.
  • We had a wonderful time skiing. The powder was amazing for our trip. It would be nice if the runs were groomed more often. It doesn't seem that the mountain is groomed as often as it used to be.
  • The beauty of The San Juan National Forest is a blessing to experience as a local here in one of the greatest places in North America. I have a special place in my heart for Purgatory. Wether I am shredding solo, with friends or family, the vibrations and frequencies I share up there, resonate deep within the very depth of my soul. Thank you to all the staff that make it possible for me and my loved ones to enjoy the Mountains of Colorado during during Old Man Wintertime! Adam
