Shark Valley Visitor Center offers an opportunity to explore America's marshlands using a paved road, a limestone trail, and a boardwalk. Take a self-guided tour through the sawgrass slough and tropical hardwood forests. As a part of Everglades National Park, the 24 km (15 mi) trail winds through alligator territory and is also home to turtles, deer, and other wildlife. • We spent a great day riding bicycle. The tower is half way the 15 mile loop and is great to enjoy the panoramic view of the Everglades. Shade and restrooms are available but it is 7 or 8 miles away from the bike rental shop. You can bring your own bicycle or use the Tram as well. With the Tram it would be much faster, you won't be as exposed to the elements and you'll save a lot of energy. It took us 3 hours to bike the whole thing. Bring more water than you expect to use and preferably use insulated bottles otherwise even if you have frozen bottles of water they will all be melted and hot between 1 to 2 hours
  • Great part of the Everglades to tour on your own with a bike. The views are spectacular. Just slow down and enjoy the wind on your face, the great hearing flying above you and the alligators basking in the sun. The horizon looks so wide. I'm definitely coming back. Don't forget the sunblock and shades. Bring an umbrella for shade if you walk instead of ride. They have a tram tour also.
  • Amazing wildlife sightings! So many alligators and beautiful birds. We rented bikes and had a wonderful time. The bikes were a bit rundown, so hopefully the park will replace them some day. But still worth it for an incredible experience of the everglades!
  • Clean and convenient visitor center which offers all necessary services to explore this part of the Everglades. You can use the bathrooms, rent bicycles, buy food and souvenirs, and just relax in the A/C. Shark Valley itself is easy to explore either with the tram tour or with your own bicycle. There are tons of wildlife sightings and the observation tower is fun to go up, as well! Recommendation: Come in the cooler months either earlier in the morning or later in the evening to maximize alligator sightings...
  • Small visitor centre with access to bike rentals, tram tours and a small concession and book store The tram tour was wonderful and I would 110% recommend to all. Saw over a 100 gators, birds, turtles, etc. with full explanation about the biosphere too The only downside here is that there aren’t too many benches to sit out and eat. And the trail close by that is not the 15 mile trail loop is barely 0.2 miles long. So you’re finished basically as soon as you started. But it’s still pretty nice and you can see alligators and heron right along the side of the visitor centre Bring lots of sunscreen, there is nearly no shade. And maybe eat your lunch before or after you come here because the 3 tables they have here get taken quickly Nice canal walk and viewing station where you can see some fish but for a better canal view I’d suggest Big Cypress National Forest’s visitor centre
