Winterplace Ski Resort, Flat Top

Growing up in WV, this is one ski resort I've never been to but I wish I had. Every single employee was beyond nice and helpful. The ski lift operators would ask if he needed to slow down the lift each time because my son was a beginner🤗. Unfortunately I did get injured and had to be taken off the trail by the Ski Patrol who were extremely courteous. It wasn't crowded and was a great place for my son's first time skiing. Their chili was also delicious! Although smaller than the other ski resorts in WV, I will definitely be back because it was affordable, easy to access, and all the employees were extremely courteous 😊🎿

We just had the best time ringing in 2023 at Winterplace!!! If you’re looking for a fun family winter activity, don’t hesitate for a second, you will have so much learning how to ski together! The staff…The facility…The slopes… They were all so awesome! The staff especially, from the ski rentals to the lift crew, were all just so friendly! We own ski equipment but we didn’t want to make room for it since we had 5 people and a 4 hour drive. I can’t say enough good things about the rental equipment especially the ski boots… I’ve not been that comfortable in ski boots in a while! Overall just a wonderful experience. We can’t wait to come back!

If you come to Winterplace with the right expectations and a little bit of planning, you’ll have a great time! Best in class for local east coast skiing. Right expectations: (1) this is east coast skiing— don’t compare it to “out west”, (2) the size of the resort is smaller but is well laid out and packs in a lot of fun, (3) lines will exist, but I never waited more than 20 minutes, (4) the word “resort” doesn’t mean perfect (even though I experienced some great customer service). Planning: (1) buy your tickets online to save money and time in lines, (2) get your equipment as early as possible, or off-site (you’ll avoid rental lines and enjoy the slopes longer), (3) brings snacks and wear extra layers, (4) arrive early so you can park close and use your vehicle as possible storage instead of a locker (be mindful of valuables of course), (5) consider visiting on a week day for smaller crowds. I will definitely be back soon. One employee who did a phenomenal job is Mr. Wagner. Thank you Winterplace for doing a good job!

Coming from the south, this amount of snow was incredible! All the employees were very kind and helping. The property is very large and the trails are well Managed. There are different kinds of trails whichever you want to go on. Later in the night, the snow (from the blowers) became icy and it was hard To stay in control, and the snow blowers typically stayed in one position so there was one big patch of snow, but overall a very good first experience.

Boys had a great time from our scout Troup here. Ski are is small and runs are easy. Snow was man made and starting to get spring skiing in at the end of February. However, would highly suggest going. The Tubing the night before all of the scouts enjoyed and they closed the tubing down that night.
