Three Boys Farm Distillery, Frankfort

To be honest, we weren’t expecting much on this visit. It was a quick stop in between tours and was recommended by a friend. The bourbon was INCREDIBLE, it could easily compete with the big names on a shelf. They don’t distribute so you have to bottle your own bourbon with the whisky thief which is an awesome experience, you also get your own tasting glass to keep. Each barrel you try is practically one of a kind so you might as well buy a bottle just to say you have it. It’s a little pricey, but WELL worth it. It tastes great and you’re supporting a small craft distillery. Can’t wait to go back!

Look - I don’t care what big name distilleries you THINK you need to go to. Forget those. THIS is the MUST SEE spot on the bourbon trail. The farm itself is beautiful and almost tucked into a neighborhood and then BOOM wide open beautiful farmland. You take the rocky road back to the barn and you’ll see why this is the best. You get to drink bourbon straight out of the barrel and it is so ridiculously good. If you decide to buy a bottle (which you should because you can’t buy it anywhere else) they let you pull it from the barrel yourself. Hannah was a fantastic host and guide. Everybody was gracious and welcoming. The vibes were simply immaculate. You get to drink at your own pace and try five different bourbons, plus you get a keepsake glass. 20/10 experience. Loved getting to hangout behind the barn and chill while sipping some high quality brown juice. Can’t emphasize enough how badly you need to see this hidden jewel on the Kentucky bourbon trail🥃 cheers!

Truly a unique experience. Beautiful farm where they cultivate the corn and rye that goes into their whiskey. One big warehouse where the delicious juice that is their bourbon/ rye whiskey is crafted. Bottled my own whiskey and got lucky enough to have it signed by their master distiller Hunter Coffey. Price for a 750 ml when I was there was $149. Might seem pricey but for 116 proof it drank really smooth with a LOT of flavor packed in.

What a great experience. If you're looking for an intimate tour of a small distillery, I definitely recommend Three Boys Farm! We visited on a late Sunday and were the only people there. We booked the tour online and were pleasantly surprised that we got to keep our taste glasses after sampling 4 bourbons and one rye. We personally bottled our own rye and bourbon selections while we were there too! This summer is the 10 year anniversary of the distillery and we'll be heading back to sample the 10-year and hopefully pick up another bottle!

This was our favorite experience from our Bourbon tour in the area. If you are considering visiting distilleries, this is a must-see, and you must try the tour and tasting. It was fascinating how subtle changes in the mash build vary the taste, and you get to try them straight from the barrel. The entire staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and added to the experience. Small shop using corn grown right there on the farm. Don’t be fooled by the size. This was quality bourbon. Would happily visit again and highly recommend for anyone. If Black Sheep BBQ is on site, even better. Try the BBQ sliders and wings.
