Get a sense of Americana from the broad, diverse collection at Gettysburg Museum of History, housing artifacts from the Civil War and World Wars I and II, as well as items associated with U.S. presidents and pop icons. Made famous by the popular television show "American Pickers," the museum is owned and curated by passionate collector Erik L. Dorr. See Civil War memorabilia, such as a frock coat and carbine rifle, as well as some rather bizarre relics, including a lock of Marilyn Monroe's hair and a portion of a car seat stained with JFK's blood. This place is full of history. Warning that it is not the most politically correct place as the museum does not shy away from the not so pretty parts of history. There is a lot of World War 2 stuff...

Free museum-privately owned. Tons of excellent exhibits! Well worth the stop. Not only civil war but also Kennedy, WW II, Vietnam, etc. exhibits.

Absolutely beautiful! Beautiful building!! Beautiful displays!! This is definitely something everyone needs to experience! You WILL respect everything we are today!

Interesting museum in Gettysburg (not just Civil war history). It is one man's collection and is free, so make a donation or buy something from the gift shop.

I first saw this place in a YouTube episode of History Underground. I had to come to see it first hand. It did not let me down. We drove 4 hrs just to visit this museum. This place was great. It’s a gold mine of history of not just Gettysburg, but also both world wars and even earlier! There is so much to see in this place, it’s amazing! I didn’t get any photos because I was too drawn to all the historical items, I didn’t even think of taking pictures! I cannot begin to describe everything Eric has in this museum. It is free to visit. They have a nice little gift shop in the back and you can also purchase many of the historical items in the museum. This collection is outstanding! Highly recommended! I have to go back again to see everything I missed! DON’T MISS THIS GEM! It is definitely worth the trip!

Amazing! I loved the way everything was presented. Cases are not over cluttered so you can see the artifacts and read the descriptions clearly. Each room is unique, and has its own theme. Very glad we stopped in and will definitely go back again! The only suggestion I could make is that there be better lighting in the souvenir area.
